Sledding

Your first snow sledding adventure happened at the Bethlehem Town Park. There are some bigger hills but we decided to start out with a smaller one near the entrance. As you can see behind you there is an ice rink that was created by flooding the lower level.

Elsmere

You recently started at Elsmere Elementary School in Delmar, NY. Your 1st grade teacher is Mrs. Baldwin. When we moved to Delmar we expected you to go to Hammergrael based on the geography, but it was full. So far we’ve been to the new student’s night, open house (mom attended), helped out with the garage sale fundraiser, been to two of your classmates (Connor and David) birthday parties, and you’ve had an original collection of lego creations on view in the display case outside the principle’s office.

Y Camp

What do you do during your first free summer? Y Camp. When we returned from summer vacation on Cape Cod you started at your summer camp. Full days of activities, sports, and swimming, with a field-trip every Wednesday. Some of the field-trips were roller skating, water park, and lake camp. Boy, were you tired your first few days and that first weekend. Toward the end of the summer the experience got a little repetitive and you seemed to get bored with it.

First Day of Kindergarten

All in all it was a pretty good first day. I can’t say for sure because Mom dropped you off at school. Mom says she didn’t cry, but only she really knows. You looked so cute in your school Polo shirt. Of course you brought home a binder full of paper that is for all of us to look over every night. Some of it is homework for you and some is for your parents.

Meet Your Teacher

This evening all of us went to your new school to meet your kindergarten teacher. Her name is Mrs. Schuler. We spent about an hour checking out the classroom, asking questions, and filling out paperwork. We found your shelf where you’ll put your backpack and we found your desk (that’s where the forms to be filled out by Mom and Dad were). Since the event was a meet your teacher for the entire school there were a lot of kids with their families. You seemed somewhat interested in the whole event, but you were probably thinking about moving on to a new school and missing your old school.
