Cartooning in the Woods

This summer you did a number of camps. One of you favorites, along with magic, was the cartooning camp. You really got into drawing these awesome characters with slightly strange proportions and huge round eyes. They continued to show up in your drawings well after the summer. Keep drawing.

Once On This Island

This evening me, mom, Tyler, Nonna, and Poppa attended the middle school theatrical performance of the play “Once on this Island.” You of course were part of the sound and lighting crew. You controlled the spotlight for the first of the two-act play. All dressed in black complete with your new black hoodie from Old Navy and your new black and red Air Jordan’s you manned the spotlight from the balcony seats in the auditorium. This was one of those times that you were strongly encouraged to participate in an activity. You weren’t crazy about it at the beginning because the first meeting was the day after we got back from Christmas in Florida. You ended up really enjoying it. I’m so proud of you for doing this. I love that you try new things. Never stop doing that.

Magic Enrichment

Another class of magic during the Hamagrael enrichment series. You were by far the most advanced magician in the group. Maybe even more advanced than the teacher. You could have taught that class to the other kids. As usual there was a full house at the end-of-class show. You brought the house down with a trick that I don’t think was even part of the class. Well done.

1st Day of Fourth Grade

And so begins another year at Hamagrael Elementary School. Your fourth grade teacher is Mrs. Bigelow. I can tell from this photo that you’ll have lots of fun. Check out that Jack-O-Latern smile. Classic.

4th grade

What a day

Today was quite a busy day for you. It started at 8am with you Karate test for your green belt. You were amazingly focused during the test. I’m amazed at your focus and discipline while you’re training. This is impressive when you consider the test was three and a half hours long. Wow. And of course you did pass the test and received your green belt the following Saturday.

We then had lunch and chilled out at home a few hours before we headed off to the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby. I volunteered as a runner, which required me to pick up the cars at the finish line and bring them back to their parking spot. Your car #94 named “POTUS” did OK. We had to drop some weight at the check-in the night before. Overall the car was in the middle of the pack.
