bag designer?

every so often you do something that makes your mom and i imagine what you will do as an adult. this latest activity makes us think you might have a future as a bag designer. this is what happens when it’s a little too quiet in your room and you’re not asleep. you decided to explore your creative impulses with one of your mom’s bag as a canvas.

Christmas 2008

we flew out of Tampa on Christmas Day to San Francisco, CA. we drove down to Sant Cruz to spend a few days with mom’s family. nonna and poppa also came from New York. you had a great time playing with your cousins and playing in their rooms when they were in the family room playing with their new wii system. they had lots of toys to explore. we visited a few playgrounds in Santa Cruz and off we went to the boardwalk. you went on a helicopter ride, a race car ride and the carousel. you really liked the race car the best. you went on it three times. i love seeing you smile and laugh when you are trying something new.

after a few days in the small beach town we headed north to San Francisco for a couple of days before flying home to Sarasota. again we went to a playground  in golden gate park, walked around haight street, and rode on an orange trolley. as we were waiting for the trolley you spotted a toy trolley in the street. you pointed it out to mom and me. i thought it was a piece of trash, a box or something. you insisted it was a toy so i picked it up and now it lives with your other toy cars and trains in your bedroom.

today you made thank you cards for all the wonderful friends and family that gave you Christmas presents. nice work.

we are all monkeys

“hey jack let’s go in the back yard and climb on the monkey bars.” —Dad

“Wow. You’re a really good climber Jack. You’re a climbing monkey.” —Dad

“I’m the biggest monkey, Tyler is the smallest monkey, you are the Daddiest monkey and Mommy is the Mommiest monkey.” —Jack

one where he gets into trouble

as i’ve noted before you love curious george the cartoon on pbs. whenever i ask you which episode you’d like to watch you respond with either “which ever one you want” or “one where he [george] gets into trouble.” the latter somewhat troubles me because you ask for it almost ever time i ask you. this is also troubling because unlike the books, curious george on tv doesn’t actually get into trouble a whole lot. why are you so interested in the few episodes when he does get into trouble. makes a parent wonder.

as you often do you took your t-shirt off the other day. nothing new, but then you proceeded to draw on your stomach with a non-permanent marker. i wasn’t aware of this artistic exploration until you said “janelle has one of these.” you then turned around to reveal your freshly inked anarchy symbol tattoo.
