Here we all are at Frosty Acres Campground for your green kyu test. The day started out with a thunderstorm complete with lots of rain and lightning. Mom and you drive to the test ahead of Tyler and I. Tyler and I arrived just after the warm up after picking up water and chips for the cookout and an iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts for mom. The test itself was quite short compared to the last green belt test. There were also lots of demonstrations of other forms of martial arts, including some swords and archery. We had a hot dog at the cookout and you received a certificate for the green kyu level. Awesome job!
Fascinating
“Dad, a lot of things about you are fascinating. You’re like an ancient bird.”
The Egypt Brochure
The Egypt brochure was a project that you researched and designed with the help of mom. You also took part in the cultural fair at school where you brought hummus with pita chips and yummy sweet Zalabya. We got the recipe from mom’s friend Rachel who was teaching in Egypt for the past few years.

Happy 9th Birthday
This is such a dad thing to say but I can’t believe you’re nine years old. I love you so much jack. You are such a sweet funny kid. This ninth birthday was awesome. February 15th started out like any over Saturday. Mom went to her yoga class and us guys stayed home. At 10am you started to get ready for your usual Saturday morning karate class. And this is where the day got a little different. Mom, Tyler and you went off to karate class while I stayed home. What you only found out later was that I was home rearranging the bedrooms. Moving things out of the guest bedroom and moving your stuff into the guest room which would become your own bedroom. We borrowed mattress from Kim and Jack and we lent them our wicker couch because the futon had to be moved to the solarium. We had the time to do this because after karate you went I David’s house and Tyler went to Dermot’s house until 2:30. You and your brother were booth quite surprised went you got home. You then opened some presents from Nonna and Poppa. And at 4:30 we went back to the Dojo for you birthday party. Lots of fun. We then came home with David and you guys spent the evening putting together Legos and watching a movie. David spent the night and the next morning continued to build Legos. Everything is awesome!
What a day
Today was quite a busy day for you. It started at 8am with you Karate test for your green belt. You were amazingly focused during the test. I’m amazed at your focus and discipline while you’re training. This is impressive when you consider the test was three and a half hours long. Wow. And of course you did pass the test and received your green belt the following Saturday.
We then had lunch and chilled out at home a few hours before we headed off to the Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby. I volunteered as a runner, which required me to pick up the cars at the finish line and bring them back to their parking spot. Your car #94 named “POTUS” did OK. We had to drop some weight at the check-in the night before. Overall the car was in the middle of the pack.
